This week’s theme at i♥faces.com is all about kissing! My entry is one of my favorite kissy pictures from a recent engagement shoot. This couple’s wedding is themed after “Phantom of the Opera,” so it was quite fitting that their engagement shoot was scheduled on a cold and snowy day.

Be sure to check out all of the entries over at i♥faces.com or enter one yourself! It’s lots of fun and is great for inspiration!

Olivia recently turned 6 months, and so she and her Mommy came to see me to document the occasion. She was such a sweet smiley little thing, and you can tell that she LOVES her mama! …makes me SO want a girl to add to my brood of boys!
Mom, thanks so much for spending part of your afternoon with me today. Enjoy your sneak peek, and I’ll have the rest of your images ready for you soon!

These next two might be my very favorites from the shoot:

If you’ve been following me from the beginning, you might remember this little doll baby. She and her family were my very first clients and some of our best friends. Today is her 1st birthday…I can’t believe that… OR the fact that I’ve been doing this for nearly 9 months!! How lucky am I!!
Her adorable ladybug themed party was yesterday, and I was pleased as punch when her Mommy asked if I would capture the event! She was a party pro as she charmed the party-goers, daintily ate her cupcake and helped to open every.single.present. Miss Sam, I am so thankful to get to be a part of your sweet life! You are precious and God has such great things in store for you! Just remember…. best friends forever, okay?

I spend lots of time photographing other people’s children. I love it. I love being let into their lives and relationships…getting to know them and taking pictures and making memories for them. It’s such an honor. What I didn’t expect was how intentional I would have to become about taking pictures of my own children and making it a priority to capture our own memories…whether they are portrait worthy, or just every day memories. This year, I want to be better about getting behind the lens for my own boys. They are, after all, the reason I began this journey in the first place.
Literally the Saturday before Christmas, I finally got around to taking pictures of our little men for our Christmas card. How bad is that? Part of it was that I was just then getting mobile from my ankle injury… Part of it was that their Christmas sweaters had arrived the day before… Part of it was just that we hadn’t gotten around to it.
Cary had to drive me (because I wasn’t allowed to yet) to a family photo session I had that day, and I decided to get our boys dressed in their Christmas duds and spend 15 minutes taking pictures of them in hopes of capturing some that were Christmas card worthy. They were so good that day (trust me…since they’re photographer’s children, that does not happen often! They’re so used to the camera in my hands, they generally ignore it completely!
), and I actually had several to choose from! Here are my favorites from that day…. Oh, and yeah, they all REALLY need haircuts in these pictures, but my sister the beautician was coming for Christmas, so we were waiting for her!

Remember this family?

Some of their family came to visit for Christmas, and I had the privilege of doing a shoot with all of them! I have to say, I have the best clients!! It was FREEZING cold this day and they were up for whatever, thinking warm thoughts to get great pictures and hopping back in their cars to warm up when it wasn’t their turn.
To the Naten Family, it’s always a pleasure to get to visit when you’re here! Thank you so much for allowing me to meet with you to take these pictures. You are a blessing to me! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek, and I’ll have your proof site up later today. Love to you all!
The pair that started it all.

As I was taking these pictures, one of the sisters spoke up to say that this picture will only be current for the next 7 months or so because one of them is expecting! Hopefully we’ll get to keep them current next year.

Auntie with her niece and nephews…how cute is little man!?

Until next time

So, It’s New Years’ Eve, and I’m not gonna lie, I’m a bit of an old woman at heart. We’ve had lots of fun here tonight. My awesome husband, Cary, made a fancy king crab dinner for my sister and I (so, SO good!), and we watched a movie after putting our boys to bed, but now I’m ready for bed…. New Year’s Day will come even if we don’t ring it in, right??
Anyway, I’m editing photos now while Cary flips channels in an effort to stay awake for the countdown, and I figured Katelyn & Aaron and their families would probably like it if I got their sneak peek up. Aaron & Katelyn were in our youth group when they were in high school. We’ve watched them grow up and grow together. Aaron is currently working for a recording studio in Nashville, and is so very talented, and Katelyn is brilliant and an artist in her own right. I know that once they get married they’ll be moving to Nashville, but I’m not gonna focus on that. I’m going to focus on their wedding coming up next summer. It will be gorgeous and personal, and I can’t wait!! Aaron and Katie-lyn,
I am so happy for you both, and I am so incredibly blessed to be able to capture your romance and your special day. I love you both!!

I love this one!

Kate, you’re gorgeous!

With Christmas time bringing extended family visits, I’ve had the privilege of having several family sessions for extended families recently. Tristan and her husband live here in Colorado, and with her family coming to visit before the holidays, it was a perfect time to get new family photos. Their request was for family pictures with a view, and Colorado has some spectacular ones! We headed out to Daniel’s Park for their session. The view from there is just gorgeous from every perspective, but it was a B.R.IIIGGHHHT day! I had to fight with the sun a bit, but I think we got some great pictures anyway. The kids cooperated so well, and were cracking their smiles constantly, especially little man, who cracked himself, and everyone else up the whole time! I hear the promise of ice cream had something to do with that.
To the Schulz fam: Thanks so much for allowing me to meet you all and capture pictures for your family! You were troopers climbing all over the rocks with me, and you were all an absolute pleasure to work with! Here is your sneak peek, and there will be many more to come when I get your proof site up next week. Have a fabulous Christmas!

See what I mean about cracking up??
